What is the folders name? can you post a screen capture of the part of the list showing the folder? My guess is it is either a default folder that Thunderbird uses, or you have assigned it a special function like "trash" and it get recreated or resubscribed when you delete mail for instance

I said the folder is a folder I created, so 1) the name I named it is irrelevant; and 2) it can't be a default folder Thunder uses. I have not assigned it a special function.

That is utter rubbish. Sorry but it is. Is the name irrelevant? Nope. Given names like Family\Christmas\photos can turn the program completely inside out because \ is a folder separator in the file system. That is not the only one.

Can't be a default folder Thunderbird uses. Have a look at the options to change the defaults for sent, archives, drafts templates and archives account settings. You claim you have not assigned it a special function. excuse me, but I would like to see the icon beside the folder name before I believe that an assignment has not been made. Just because you are not aware of it does not make it possible. Could be you IMAP mail server requires the folder. but I have no idea as I have no information.

So can we move on to actually trying to diagnose the issue with the input of some information, or do you wish to continue with the status quo. That is you get nothing out of this but the existing aggravation of being questioned.

OK. The file name I entered during creation was "Email Templates"; however the file name appears in Thunderbird as "Email_Templates" (with an underscore). This folder does not appear on my GoDaddy server interface that the Thunderbird software uses. The folder icon is yellow, square image of a folder. You say that IMAP may require the folder, but how can IMAP require a folder I created?

There are also two additional folders with yellow folder icons that I did not create: "Send_Later" and "Sent Messages". Note that one of the two has an underscore between the two words and the other one doesn't. The "Sent Messages" folder has approximately 50 sent messages in it, which is 1% of the messages I have sent and are not duplicates of any of the other 99% of the messages I've sent that are in Thunderbird's "Sent Items" folder.

You say I should check the defaults in options, but I don't see anywhere in options to change defaults: What's the path?
