Just downloaded Thunderbird. Why is there no sent folder?
There is no sent folder in my program. All messages from my email server went into the inbox. There are no folders either except trash and Outbox.

SOLVED! Got the emails into my Sent folder finally. Other folders didn't copy over but I am happy to have this. Thanks for your help.

Have you sent anything yet?
Will not send either.
Update, was just able to send an email to myself and got it...the Sent Folder now appears but I still didn't get any of my sent emails download from the Email provider. I need those to make reference to. Does anyone know how I can get those to populate into Thunderbird. Trash from Email provider did not populate also but that is not as important. Thanks for any help given.
Did you set it up for POP or IMAP?
You need IMAP to see all the folders on the server
How do I change it to IMAP...is set up for POP right now?
You need to check if your email provider offers IMAP, and if so, note the settings:
server name (e.g. mail.example.com) port (e.g. 143, 993) authentication (e.g. password) security (e.g. SSL, TLS, STARTTLS)
You'll need two sets of these, one for IMAP (incoming) and another for SMTP (outgoing), though Thunderbird will probably get the SMTP settings for itself.
Set it up again. If you're offered both POP and IMAP, choose IMAP. If it isn't offered, manually insert the appropriate settings as noted above.
When you get the new IMAP-connected account working, check the POP-connected account for any messages that are missing from the new IMAP-connected account, and drag them into it. Then you can remove the POP-connected account.
Sorry, can you help me with this problem. I re-install Thunderbird to set it up with IMAP but it just keeps bringing me back to the POP program. How to I set it up again so I can enter IMAP instead? Thanks
I actually just tried it and it made another POP account. I now have two of those and no IMAP account. Help if you can.
Who is your email provider? In other words, what comes after the @ in your email address?
My email provider is Network Solutions...now Web.com even though my email address has my company name after the @. They just host my email. They gave me instructions on how to set up and have the option of IMAP. It is just that I first set it up as POP not knowing any different. I don't need any of the most recent emails that I have sent so can I just delete the account and start over using the information for IMAP provided to me by Network Solutions?
Yes.
But if you are not offered IMAP, you'll have to manually insert the details for an IMAP connection. A tip: don't leave any of the boxes on "automatic".
Deleted all previous copies of thunderbird on computer and reinstalled with IMAP configuration. Inbox and Trash Folders transferred over but Send file did not. Still in the same boat.
