Before the last update I had all my "Favorites" listed in a command button on the menu bar at the top of the page. Where and why has this gone?

No response to my posting about a disabled extension?

It has been disabled, thanks for pointing me in that direction. I am puzzled as to why a list of websites has been disabled. How can I re-instate plain old favorites?

Hi, to see the bookmarks bar, right click in the tab bar (but not on a tab) and tick/check Bookmarks Toolbar. Also see - Bookmarks Toolbar - Display your favorite websites at the top of the Firefox window.

If the bookmarks button is missing, open the 3-bar menu > Customize, and if you can see it, simply drag it to a toolbar and the location of your choice, then Exit Customize to save. If the button isn't there, try clicking on Restore Defaults. More here - Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

If you did have a "Favorites" menu item up there, maybe it was put there by an extension such as PlainOld Favorites which may have been disabled with the Firefox 43 update due to that extension not being "signed". https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-on-signing-in-firefox

Thanks for the replies so far.

I am happy with the bookmarks toolbar but at the top Menu Bar between History and Tools there was a Favorites and it dropped down all my pages that I like to view. Where has that gone?

Hi NickBartle, along the lines suggested by the-edmeister, you can check whether you have the PlainOldFavorites extension and it is disabled, using the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side check at the bottom. If it says it was disabled because it was not verified AND there is no option to enable it, please see the article linked above by the-edmeister.
