Hi there is an add on that will allow you to do this:

However if you have Firefox to open pdf files by default in Acrobat Reader and you just re-downloaded it, you may need to set it as a default one more time. In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:

1. Click the menu button and click Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac).
2. In the Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac) tab (window for previous than 38.0 firefox version), select the Applications panel.
3. In the Search field, type PDF. You should find Portable Document Format (PDF).
4. On the right hand side you should find an Action column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose Preview in Firefox.

I tried this plugin. When I try to save an eBay purchase page, I get the eBay login page instead of the page I was trying to save.

Are you saying that I only need acrobat reader for the Adobe Firefox plug in to work that provides this functionality?

I use Adobe Acrobat DC (Pro, not Reader) and Mac OS 10.11.3. I want to use the Adobe icon to convert web page to PDF. I have it on my iMac and want it on my laptop now. Where is the icon and why can't I find it? (This is driving me nuts.)

Hi jpachner, could you check for it on the Add-ons page. Either:

• Command+Shift+a
• "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Look for Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF on the right side. Note that disabled extensions cluster at the bottom of the list.

Can you find and enable it?

If it is enabled: you may need to use the Customize feature to add its button to the toolbar. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

If it cannot be enabled: does Firefox give any explanation for the problem?

If Firefox did not discover the extension: could you check with Adobe on whether there are any steps to make it work on your version of MacOS X?

I made sure that the plugins were set to "always activate." The Adobe Acrobat -Create PDF option that you specify is not listed under my extensions. The icon is not pictured when I click on the customize option for the Firefox tool bar. This is very frustrating.

Adobe suggested that I needed to repair my Firefox installation. That's a pain.

Unfortunately, I do not know the details of where that file is located on Mac, or how Firefox normally finds it, since unlike Windows, I don't think there is a central registry.

Rather than make significant changes to Firefox at this point, could you try creating a second profile? That's a test which sets up from scratch in a new settings folder without affecting your current settings. Firefox will try to discover external extensions on your system for the new profile. If it finds Create PDF, that would indicate there is a settings file problem in your main profile. If it doesn't, that would suggest the Adobe file is not in the right location to be discovered.

This article describes how to create a new profile. Important: do not use the Delete Profile button, it's just too easy to delete the wrong one.

As a partial workaround, have you checked the Print dialog? Is there a PDF button in the lower left corner that has "Save as Adobe PDF"?

When converting print output, the links where the display text is not the URL may not work in the PDF. I don't know whether that is important for your purposes.
