I upgraded Firefox to version 4 and RoboForm no longer works. When Fill Forms is clicked nothing happens. When I open the login menu and click a site to log in nothing happens. It still works fine using IE so I doubt there is a problem with the RoboForm program. There must be a problem with the Firefox program with RoboForm. I have reinstalled Firefox and that did not help. Do you have any ideas?

You need to update to Roboform 7 for Firefox 4.0.1 compatibility. That is the way Roboform is handling Firefox 4+ versions with their Full RoboForm Toolbar program. That new version of Roboform requires an annual fee (probably because it includes their "Cloud" service), which has upset many long time users of Roboform and Firefox. There is a RoboForm Lite Standalone Extension which is free. http://www.roboform.com/platforms/browsers/firefox

Also, a number of (now) former Roboform users have talked about switching to LastPass. https://lastpass.com/

Here is an official response from Roboform:

"Thank you for your message. Unfortunately RoboForm 6 does not work with Firefox 4 Final Release which contained significant changes over the previous official release.

RoboForm 6 is compatible with all previous Firefox releases. Kindly note that the final RoboForm 6 update was released in December 2010 along with the release of RoboForm 7."

Okay... now another one. The Microsoft Account Manager now requires my permission to open Firefox since I upgraded to 4.01. I did not expect this to happen and it is a real pain as it makes it difficult to open Firefox from a link and it is an extra step to the opening of the browser. I am the only user and am logged on as an Administrator. The message reads 'Do you want to let this program make changes to your computer'. Any ideas? I shut off the account manager and got a security message portending dire consequences if I did not re-instate the manager. Windows 7 ...Firefox default browser . Hope that is enough information.

Syber Systems, owner of Roboform is trying to gouge existing customers. They do not warn people that of this, they have used a number of sleazy tactics in an attempt to stampede people into paying them a second time. They removed the export function to make it more difficult for people to migrate to LastPass and other service.

At this point it is a matter of principle. Their BS has cost me at least a hundred man hours but I am now close to completing my transition to LastPass. Syber Systems has shown that they are not ethical and I will no longer patronize them. I urge others to do the same.

Here's The Fix (found on the website Windows Secrets)

1. Install Roboform 7.2.7

2. Copy folder "c:\Program Files\Siber Systems\AI RoboForm\Firefox\" to another location

3. Install Roboform 6.10.2 -dont untick option to install adapter for firefox

4. Replace "c:\Program Files\Siber Systems\AI RoboForm\Firefox\" with your copy from 7.2.7 version.

Now you should have working 6.10.2 roboform with latest adapter from 7.2.7

Thanks Smoo for your tip on getting Roboform V6.10 to work with the latest Firefox at the time. I've followed your instructions, and It works even for the newest Firefox (V5). I too was surprised and disappointed when I discovered what I thought was a free upgrade to the latest Roboform for paid users of V6 turned out to be 30 day trialware. I have read some posts that side with Siber System's decision to end support of V6 for new versions of Firefox, arguing that they should not be compelled to honor "lifetime" licenses for all future releases of the browser. They may have a point, but the way Siber Systems went about marketing the upgrade to previous license holders was deceptive at least. So, if there is a way to continue using Roboform V6 (and benefit from the improvements of the latest version of Firefox) without paying this company another penny, I'm in favor of spreading the word.

As for dumping Roboform altogether, I've heard of security breaches for other password management programs (e.g.: LastPass Password Manager) that store the info remotely ("in the cloud"), so I prefer to keep my passwords encrypted AND stored locally, as is the case for Roboform V6.

Thanks again for your help.

Need some help urgently....

I have followed the steps outlined above by billybob62 several time, but can't get it to work....

Might be a dumb question - but how do you copy the folder file "c:\Program Files\Siber Systems\AI RoboForm\Firefox\" to another location?

Where do you save the file to? Do you save it in c:\Program Files????

Another thing, when I tried to replace the file from Roboform 7 into Roboform 6, it just wouldn't do it......I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong....

Appreciate your assistance... Regards

@LaunchPad

Try searching this forum for other threads with instructions for hacking Roboform like billybob62 described. That procedure has probably been posted a dozen times or more over the last 4 or 5 months.
