Using Firefox 4 & Windows 7. Everytime I start Firefox from a shortcut to a website it comes up with the following error 'there was a problem sending the command to the program'. The requested website does load after this. with no problems.

If a shortcut is used while Firefox is already open the error does not occur.

For me the problem was related to the FoxClock extension. Once I disabled it, the problem was gone.
Hope this help.

how do you disable it ?
Go to Tools - Add-ons then select FoxClock and disable.

i hope someone is planning on fixing 4.0 cuz its not making me happy it is doing weird things .. i dont know why they have to fix things that arent broken !!!!!!! not only is it doing this suddenly FF freezes and is very slow too !! i have a BRAND new computer . i shoulda left the old version in there and just may uninstall this and put the old one back until they figure it out !!! so annoying i have better things to do than waste my time with this kinda stuff trust me !
Once I'm in Add-ons how can I tell if I have Foxclock installed?

The same thing happens to me with FireFox 7.0.1, Windows 7 64 bit. As others have reported, it does not happen if FireFox is already open. Also, if I mahe Internet Explorer (ugh) or Chrome the default browser, the problem does not happen. Only with FireFox.
Solved (for me). The problem was Roboform 7.5.5. When they updated to 7.5.6, the issue with Firefox 7 was resolved. Note that the problem did not occur with any other browsers before, and now it is fixed in Firefox 7.
As reported in earlier replies, the annoyance disappeared after I upgraded to Roboform 7.5.6, from 7.5.4.
