Thunderbird on two computers
I have Thunderbird installed on two computers, a laptop and a desktop. Am now reading email (from one account) on both. Would like to get new email on just the laptop, which is always with me, but still be able to access older messages on the desktop.
How can I block receiving email on the desktop? Obviously I can't just delete the app on that machine.

I'm not sure to understand where is your problem or question, so don't hesitate to re formulate your topic :)
You have two computers (computerA and computerB), with Thunderbird on each of them connected on the same mail. If the two Thunderbird are connected by SMTP, if you read an email on computerA, it should still apparead (as read) on computerB and should not disappear. However, if you are connected by POP3, the email will only be download in the first computer on which you opened your emails first.
You are right, I didn't phrase my problem very well. I have a POP (POP3?) account, and my mail server--sonic.net--could never explain to me why, if I read email on two devices, some but not all '" of the messages dowloaded on one device will appear in the inbox on the other. That's why I would like to read, reply, and write emails only on one device (my laptop), but be able to access older emails on my desktop.
What I'm going to do is save the whole profile on the desktop, and then just delete the Thunderbird app from that device. And maybe if I just delete the app, the profile will remain in my library folder. Would make re-installation of Thunderbird later, if needed, very easy.
