Created new mailing list ('genealogy'), won't insert emails in address field when I enter list name. Inverse problem w/ other list: Created a list two weeks ago ('reunion'), typing its name in address field populates with emails BUT I cannot find the list itself in my Address Book. Using different strategies (go from address book, go from write, etc) yields a mixture of these results--sometimes I can find lists, sometimes I can't, sometimes they populate, sometimes they don't. Another odd thing--TB gives me a warning when I type 'genealogy' into a To field, telling me maybe I should use Bcc, so at that point it recognizes the name. Then when I try to send it tells me genealogy is not a valid email address. For the mailing lists that works, what happens is that I type the list name and then the component email addresses appear, the list name disappearing. I can of course work around this by using individual addresses, but I'd sure prefer not to. Thanks for any help.

re : To Create new mailing list ('genealogy') In 'Address Book' Right click on the 'Address Book' which has contacts and select 'New List' Type the list name: genealogy

Then either start to type an email address and select from drop down - slow method OR click on 'OK' to close the window. Then select contacts in the Address Book and use drag and drop into the 'genealogy' list which displays in left pane below the Address Book that contains it. This is a quick method as it allows you select several contacts in one go. If you cannot see the List name in left pane, click on the > arrow to the left of the address book name.

More info:

Using Address Book: Select mailing list name in left pane and click on 'Write' This open a Write window and populates the TO field with individual email addresses of those contacts in that mailing list. You may get a prompt suggesting you use Bcc in order to maintain privacy of email addresses.

Using Write window: Enable the 'Contacts sidebar' Select the address book which contains the mailing list either scroll down to locate the mailing list name or in 'search contacts' type: genealogy select genealogy and click on button 'Add to Bcc' This only adds the list name to Bcc field in this format: genealogy<genealogy>

re: BUT I cannot find the list itself in my Address Book Please post an image of your Address Book which shows the contents in the Left 'Directory Pane'.

re : Then when I try to send it tells me genealogy is not a valid email address.

Please post an image which shows both the Write window where 'genealogy' is entered and the pop up error box, so I can see what is entered in both locations at time of send.
