New mozilla upgrade took away session manager!! restore previous session clickable but won't work- need my old session
What is this mess? FF automatically upgrades to new version without permission and takes away my session manager, meaning my last session. I don't know why restore previous session is highlighted but won't do anything when clicked. Im using windows 7.

Your profile folder is:
C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sjuvpx9g.default-1414002998499
Please see the earlier long post about hiding all of Firefox's own session history files so at startup, Firefox uses the new sessionstore.js file instead.
I already completed this part- "First, to hide Firefox's own session history files, after you've shut down Firefox:
(A) Rename the sessionstore-backups folder to OLDsessionstore-backups (since you might want something from here later)
(B) If you find sessionstore.jsonlz4 in your profile folder, rename it to OLDsessionstore.jsonlz4
(C) If you find sessionstore.js in your profile folder, rename it to OLDsessionstore.js or, if it's from the Firefox 55 days, you may be able to delete it"
but when I am here- C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sjuvpx9g.default-1414002998499 I see a page with a long list of folders/files. I don't see a profile folder listed, I am not sure how to drag and drop where you listed.

That whole folder is your profile folder.
You used the Scrounger page to read your recent .session file, and you saved a file named sessionstore.js -- is that right? You want to move that sessionstore.js file into your profile folder.
But I don't see a folder, just a list of folders like- bookmarkbackukps crashes datareporting features gmp etc... and files like- addons.json alternateservices blocklist cookies.sqlite I have dragged and dropped a file into a folder before but I don't know how to do this because I don't see an individual folder named profile to drag it to

you- "and you saved a file named sessionstore.js"
No I renamed it like you said so I have a OLDsessionstore.js folder/file Ido not have a sessionstore.js anymore
Okay, the sessionstore.js file that you WANT Firefox to use should not have OLD at the beginning. That would be for a truly OLD file you want Firefox to ignore.
You were supposed to rename an existing sessionstore.js file in the profile folder and not the new file that you got from the scrounger.html web page. The sessionstore.js file you got from the scrounger.html page needs to be placed at the main level of the profile folder. You will have to remove the leading OLD from the file, so its file name is sessionstore.js
I am confused are you saying I should change OLDsessionstore.js back to sessionstore.js its original name? and if so I still don't know where my profile folder (icon) is so I can drag and drop the new saved folder I got from jeffersonscher.com
The Firefox profile folder is the folder with this long name:
- sjuvpx9g.default-1414002998499
And you need to drop the sessionstore.js file in this folder.
to core-el "You were supposed to rename an existing sessionstore.js file in the profile folder and not the new file that you got from the scrounger.html web page."
That is not what i did, nor is it what i said i did. re-read what I have posted. as stated many times- I do not see a folder icon for this folder
sjuvpx9g.default-1414002998499 when my address bar shows this location-
C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sjuvpx9g.default-1414002998499 The page I see is a list of folders/files as detailed above. I don't know how to drag and drop if I can't see an icon for the folder. i.e. there is no folder icon named sjuvpx9g.default-1414002998499 or profile

Try dropping sessionstore.js onto a blank part of the file list to add it to the list.
If the address already shows the folder name then you are in this profile folder and you can drop it in free space on that page (make sure you do not drop it in a folder).
To see the sjuvpx9g.default-1414002998499 folder as a folder, you need to go up one level to the profiles folder.
- C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
I do not see an answer to this question I posted above- I do not want to try your recent suggestions until I have this answered
Are you saying I should change OLDsessionstore.js back to sessionstore.js its original name? and if so I still don't know where my profile folder (icon) is so I can drag and drop the new saved folder I got from jeffersonscher.com

Quote: Are you saying I should change OLDsessionstore.js back to sessionstore.js its original name?
Yes, you need to revert this rename of the sessionstore.js you got from jeffersonscher.com and change OLDsessionstore.js to sessionstore.js.
If you want to drop the file on a folder icon then you need to go up one level like I posted above.
- C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
If you are on that window then you should see the profile folder listed as a folder.
I did see this solution given- "If you want to drop the file on a folder icon then you need to go up one level like I posted above.
C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ If you are on that window then you should see the profile folder listed as a folder." to my problem of not being able to see the folder icon which I mentioned many times finally answered. I will try this - thanks My other question I asked a couple times above has now been answered -thanks but- what does this mean- "you need to revert this rename of the sessionstore.js you got from jeffersonscher.com" please reword- I do not understand your meaning
Also what does this mean? "And you need to drop the sessionstore.js file in this folder"
Note that you can also use Copy and Paste in the right-click context menu to get a file in the correct folder if you are uncertain with dragging. I personally prefer copy/paste or keyboard shortcuts over dragging, especially when files with large file sizes or the number of files is large. With dragging there is always a risk that you drop files in the wrong location.
After wasting hours trying to fix the mess mozilla created for all session manager users, I give up. Questions unanswered, suggestions not laid out in simplest terms (for non tech people). I'm cutting my loses at this point. Bye mozilla, going to chrome.
Ya too bad can not follow directions, Going to bottom of 2 pages is really not done often nor is 33 replies. Not even a thank you for the all the Volunteer Support members who used their spare time to help you so that you could have what you wanted. .........
Were almost there to.
once there this might have been useful : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-session-manager/
Will never know.... tah
Hi kids22, don't forget that you can use the Scrounger tool to save your session file tabs and windows to a page of clickable links for use in any browser.
