What settings are incorrect? I am able to send to emails that are gmail, yahoo, exchange servers, etc. but other emails get rejected. They are not blacklisted.
I set this email up in Outlook and it worked fine, but in Thunderbird many of my emails get rejected. Below are two examples that will work with the web interface and in Outlook, but do not work in Thunderbird. What can I do to make it work with all of my emails that I send to regularly?
The outgoing server settings are smtp.charter-business.net, port 587, security STARTTLS (did not work with SSL/TLS or none) and normal password. Tried numerous variations of the settings and different ports, but none worked as well as this one.
Examples: 1. Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:
[email protected] The recipient's e-mail address was not found in the recipient's e-mail system. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please check the e-mail address and try resending this message, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.
The following organization rejected your message: mx2.qwestoffice.com (64.26.60.181).
2. Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:
[email protected] The format of the recipient's e-mail address isn't valid. A valid address looks like this: [email protected]. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please check the e-mail address and try sending the message again, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.
The following organization rejected your message: inbound.mountaintechadvantage.com.netsolmail.net (206.188.198.64).

As far as the smtp.charter-business.net server is concerned, an older post on this forum arrived at these settings:
smtp.charter-business.net on port 587, SSL/TLS security, authentication = normal password, and User name = full email address.
This did not solve the problem. Did use full email address.
Your picture shows that you have STARTTLS security, not SSL/TLS.
The SSL/TLS doesn't work. I tried that. Charter needs TLS and the STARTTLS is the only one that worked. Again, it works for yahoo, gmail, Microsoft Exchange and other known servers but not for network solutions, qwestoffice, and other servers.
To sfhowes and others. Thank you for your help. The outgoing settings that you recommended work with Charter residential accounts but do not seem to work with the Charter business accounts - particularly ones using the smtp.charter-business.net. We tried all combinations using ports 24, 465, 587, and 2525 with security set at none, SSL/TLS and STARTTLS using full email address and password. None were able to send except the port 587 and STARTTLS combination and then it would not send to all. Using Outlook 2010 and Microsoft Outlook Web Access we are able to send to all. It is frustrating that with Thunderbird it will not send to some emails. We appreciate your time and consideration. If you have any other suggestions that we did not try already, please let us know.
