I have just discovered to my horror that my important bookmarks are gone(?)! I checked and this happened took effect after updating to firefox (49.0.1).HELP!!
I have just discovered to my horror that all my important bookmarks are gone(?)! I went to "bookmarkbackup" folder as detailed by firefox support but there was only 3 backup files, starting from 25/09/16 only. I checked my history and it only shows up to 7 days! None of the previous saved folders or files saved/bookmarked is there anymore. Bookmark seems to have been "formated".
I have most recently updated to FF version 49.0.1 on same 25/09/16. I only discovered this potential disaster this morning.
I need and solicit for URGENT HELP!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

hi, do you have a folder labelled "old firefox data" on your desktop? if you press windows-key+r and open %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles how many folders are you seeing there?
These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.

@FredMcD thanks.
@Phillip, I have just done windows key + r and there is only 1 folder. Opened the folder and went to bookmarkbackup (opened). There are still only 3 json files there as previuosly stated. the earliest being 25/09/16.
I have also gone to bookmark all, restore, CHOOSE FILE and selected the file but there is no impact! I AM LOST FOR WORDS!!
is there an "old firefox data" folder on the desktop?
@Phillips, there is but it has folders dated 2014.
what's the file-chengedate of places.sqlite placed within that folder on the desktop?
There are 5 folders in total, In all 5 folders there are no places.sqlite file.
There are other SQFILE like 'cookies', 'content-perfs', 'formhistory' ... etc. however the are all dates (dated modified) 2014.
ok, i'm sorry - i don't know how that happened but it seems like your profile has really gone away then. if you have no other backup of your drive available from before that happened i fear there isn't a way to get back to that data.
