Hi

I am using Thunderbird 31.1.1 on a Mac Pro. I am having a problem deleting attachments.

I decided to move to Thunderbird as Apple Mail is so clunky when removing attachments. Thunderbird seems much smoother and more intuitive. However, once I have deleted an attachment (whilst retaining the original message), the message reloads moments later with the attachment still there.

I have sorted my "all" mailbox by size, and when I delete the largest attachments, the mail drops down the ranks and essentially disappears, as you would expect, but then it will pop back up again with the attachment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

My guess is IMAP mail account synchronized to a server that simply does not support dropping attachments so the sync re-downloads the attachment instead of updating the other way.

Thanks Matt

This is what I assumed as well, so I had a play around with the IMAp settings in Gmail. I switched the auto expunge to the non default setting "Auto-Expunge off - Wait for the client to update the server.", and it seemed to work for an afternoon, so I merrily went away and deleted a load of attachments.

Unfortunately, they have all just popped back up again.
