After upgrading to Firefox 6, Netflix freezes on full screen, while audio still plays on Windows 7.
It works fine on IE. I disabled all addons 1 by 1 and problem still existed. I then uninstalled Silverlight and Firefox completely clean and reinstalled and problem still exists. It's definitely a Firefox problem since Netflix works fine on IE-6 on up and other browsers. This has to be fixed ASAP or I and 1000,s of other users will be forced to use IE which we all hate and despise. Other posts show that since Firefox 3.6 update that the problem occurred requiring a hard restart. I also had that problem and it was Antivir Antivirus causing a conflict. People posted that adjusting Flash Player fixed the problem. Yea it did when viewing Youtube but that has nothing to do with Netflix since it doesn't use Flash Player. If Silverlight is uninstalled and reinstalled then the problem is gone until the 1st few times of watching Netflix full screen then the problem of full screen freezing reoccurs ASAP.

This works for XP64 allowing Firefox 6.0 to Stream Netflix instead of getting sent to the Netflix Required Browsers to Stream Page may work with other versions similar symptoms should not affect updates or browsing even if it does not fix your Netflix problems. I experienced full page freezes with Silverlight 5 Beta if you are using that try going back to earlier Silverlight goodluck!
The problem with Netflix streaming with the FireFox 6.0 version is that the Netflix service refuses version 6.0 because they are A) unwilling to license it or B) too lazy or stupid to add the new version to their User Agent acceptance scheme. C) under contract to MICROSOFT to use Silverlight and part of Silverlight's DRM is what Browser versions are acceptable and Microsoft is taking their sweet time updating Silverlight to push I.E. on people and if you have Beta 5 Silverlight forget that -------Until Netflix accepts Firefox 6.0 as a legitimate Netflix browser you may do what I have done to get Firefox 6.0 streaming at Netflix.
1) Open Firefox 6.0 and enter "www.whatsmyua.com" without quotations in the address bar and highlight and copy your present User Agent string from the top of that page when you get there.
2) Type "ABOUT:CONFIG" without quotations in the Firefox address bar and hit enter then answer the You might destroy the world question with Alright I'm ready.
3) Right click on the background of the Config screen and then highlight to click on the "New String" choice... When the box comes up enter "general.useragent.override" without quotations and hit return
4) When another box appears paste in your current User Agent string you copied in step 1) BEFORE hitting enter place your cursor on your paste and right arrow to the end of the line. EDIT/REPLACE "6.0" with "5.0.1" without the quotations. Enter your change and close out the Config page.
5) Repeat step 1) to make sure the User Agent string is now spoofing your browser as version 5.0.1
6) Go to Netflix and watch movies (Make sure Silverlight and the Firefox Java are on). If it was working before the upgrade, everything should now work again streaming Netflix with Firefox 6.0.
7) Call Netflix and tell them Dave sent you to see if they're stupid or just lazy and to quit spreading the B.S. that Firefox 6.0 ain't workin when we know it's Netflix (1-866-636-3076)

I did what you said and created the new string and rechecked it twice to make sure it was correct and then went to Netflix. The 1st time I clicked full-screen it worked and then I exited full-screen and then went back to full-screen again and it froze with the audio still playing in the background as before. I then exited full-screen again and my movie was still playing. I still have the same full-screen problem. I went back to IE and it worked fine. I have a n9400gt PCIE16 graphics card if your wondering with an Athlon 3500+ on Asus MB with 4 Gigs DDR.
I checked all my settings in the Nvidia Control Panel and I have the 280.26 driver package installed. Previous versions of drivers also do the same thing. If I keep clicking full screen over and over sometimes full-screen will work but then of-course when I take it off full-screen and then click full-screen again then the same freezing problem occurs and I only can hear the audio with no video moving but only a froze pic to stare at. So full-screen while watching Netflix on Firefox 6.0 only works for me at periodic times.

The problem is on Netflix's end with their supported user agents. Even though they say that they support any version above Firefox X their support is instead for versions X-5. To remedy the problem until Netflix fixes their code install, use a user agent switcher and create a profile for Firefox version 5
Check and tell if its working.
It doesn't seem to be a user agent problem or Netflix wouldn't play at all on Firefox 6.0, rather it being minimized or full-screen. Netflix streams and plays fine on firefox 6.0, I just can't watch it full-screen except for once in a while. I don't know, this one has me totally stumped...

I have done all the above and still have the same problem. Last night I reinstalled Windows 7 32b and 64b and dint even finish installing all my programs and still had the exact same problem with Netflix not wanting to play full-screen with Firefox 6. I even did a complete downgrade to Firefox 5.0.1 and thought the problem was solved but it's still doing the same thing.

I already updated all addons and plugins and setup files also and even uninstalled and reinstalled only the necessary in order to view Netflix. I don't believe in toolbars lol I always uncheck the nonsense that vendors try to get you to install lol

Troubleshooting plugins and addons was the 1st thing I did. I uninstalled and reinstalled Netflix clean. I will have to install an older version of Silverlight in order to troubleshoot if it's causing the problem or not because disabling it is defeating the purpose because then I wouldn't be able to obviously view Netflix to see if the problem was solved or not.
Create a New Profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
-> Basic Troubleshooting: Make a New Profile
-> If that New Profile works then you can recover your Bookmarks and Passwords from the Old Profile.

This is my post from the beginning of this thread. After upgrading to Firefox 6, Netflix freezes on full screen, while audio still plays on Windows 7.

Again I appreciate your help but your just posting everything that I already stated that I did. I posted in detail all over this thread everything that I've done.

mha007, are you FAQbot of some sort? I'm sure all genuine attempts to help are appreciated, but deserthiker77 just pointed out that NetFlix is using Silverlight, not Flash, and you responded with a link to a page troubleshooting Flash issues. Not helping.
I see the same (or a very similar) issue with Eurosport Player, which also uses Silverlight. I'm also using Firefox 6 on Windows 7 32-bit, fully updated. When I click the fullscreen icon, the video locks up, but I can still hear audio. If I leave it long enough, I get a "The Silverlight plugin has crashed" message (might not be the exact wording, I'm posting from my work machine, and can't visit that site from here). Please no more generic FAQ answers, but if anyone has some specific knowledge of this problem, a way to fix it, or more information to help diagnose it, it would be appreciated.
lol @ FAQbot
BTW deserthiker77's User Agent doesn't show any Silverlight plugins installed.. And tony72 i don't know about your System Details whether you have Silverlight plugin installed or not..
IF you have a Silverlight plugin installed, it will be displayed in Add-ons Manager tab under Plugins panel (as displayed in the attached screenshot)

What do you mean my User Agent doesn't show any Silverlight installed? Your unable to know what I have installed on my computer unless #1 you hacked me or #2 I told you. I told you that I have been using Silverlight to view Netflix and that Silverlight is my main issue. It's in my posts everywhere. It's also very well known that Netflix requires Silverlight to stream video. I put in my last post again how Silverlight is a problem and how you were posting everything but something that has to do with my problem. Tony72 told you straight-out that he is also having problems with Silverlight so obviously that means he has it installed or he wouldn't be able to have problems with it. Why did you post back telling Tony72 that you dint know if he had Silverlight installed or not? You make no since whatsoever.

Your definitely on track now with my problem and I really appreciate it. The guy over at the other post dint say exactly what the problem was that he was having while streaming Netflix using Silverlight, but another guy said that replied to his post, to go into a guest account and copy the Silverlight folder from it's User appdata and paste the contents into the User with the problem. The only problem with that is when installing Silverlight it's automatically the same folder being used all all sub accounts so if the main Silverlight profile folder is corrupted then all sub user accounts would be too. Anyway, I even did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 32 and 64bit and only installed the Silverlight plugin to view Netflix and the same problem occurred. Before the problem occurred full-screen worked fine but it wasn't smooth clicking from full-screen back to minimize screen. I could tell that Silverlight was conflicting or something. It was after a Silverlight update. It worked fine after Firefox 6 update from Firefox 5. I used it everday for weeks and then just all a sudden the problem with full-screen freezing occurred. I updated my nvidia drivers also. I have a n9400gt(MD512) graphics card if your wondering.

Have you tried contacting Netflix and asking them about this issue ?? Maybe they have more cases like this. Check and see what's their opinion on this.. I think its some sort of compatibility issue between Netflix and Firefox 6.
