Why does update to Firefox 3.6.3 not uninstall 3.6.2?
Manually used Help | Check for Updates, and "Software Updates" window to download and install Firefox 3.6.3 over 3.6.2.
After 3.6.3 was installed, Windows XP "Add or Remove Programs" window lists both "Mozilla Firefox (3.6.2)" and "Mozilla Firefox (3.6.3)" as being installed.
Why didn't the installer for 3.6.3 uninstall 3.6.2?
Can 3.6.2 be uninstalled manually now, after installation of 3.6.3, or does 3.6.2 need to remain because some of its components are used by 3.6.3?
Should 3.6.2 have been uninstalled, and then use "Firefox Setup 3.6.3.exe" to install 3.6.3?
Thank you.

It is most likely only the entry in Add and Remove Programs that has been left by the updater, but the files have been updated to the new version. If you would uninstall that older version then you will uninstall that new (3.6.3) version.
Thank you for your reply.
You were correct. The entry for 3.6.2 in "Add or Remove Programs" was left behind by 3.6.3's installer.
Revo Uninstaller 1.88 showed only "3.6.2" installed, not both it and 3.6.3 as in the "Add or Remove Programs" window.
Using "Add or Remove Programs" to uninstall "3.6.2" removed 3.6.3 and the "3.6.2" entry, but still listed 3.6.3 as being installed after it was actually uninstalled.
Removing the erroneous 3.6.3 entry in "Add or Remove Programs" and doing a full installation using "Firefox Setup 3.6.3.exe" cleaned everything up.
