my husband who was our computer guru passed away 3 months ago. While he was in the ICU I received a message that said
"The certificate for mail.pdq.act is not valid for that server. Someone could be trying to impersonate the server and you should not continue".
My husband and I had separate computers but we shared the same email account -- [email protected] Ever since I received that message, no new emails have come through my computer and I can't send any messages from my computer. My grandson tried to reinstall Thunderbird on my computer but that didn't help. Everything is working fine on husband's computer. I compared settings on my computer with husband's computer and the only difference I can find is that on husband's computer the Server Name is securemailrisebroadband.net while on my computer it is mail.pdq.net What do I do? Should I change the server on my computer to securemailrisebroadband.net ???

IF you and he used the same email provider (where the info to right of the @ is the same), then YES. Carefully review the incoming server panes for the two and the SMTP server panes so that you use exactly the same content. If you later have problems, then posting screenshots of the two computers' server settings may prove helpful, but I feel you may have found the solution. Remember; there are TWO places for possible server names, one for incoming and one for outgoing (SMTP). The other computer may have used that name on both, or just one.
The certificate error is probably due to your antivirus app intercepting secure connections. Disable email scanning or add the TB profile folder as an exclusion or exception in antivirus settings.
The correct server is securemail.risebroadband.net
