Several "questions" appear, and even block parts of the Drudge copy. These are from www.tellmenow. This website then places their ads on front of you. Please explain where you are going with this. Maybe I'll just go back to using MSexplorer.

It would seem whoever runs Drudge Report is employing effective measures to prevent their ads from being blocked.

Optional solution: Install YesScript and blacklist DrudgeReport from running Javascript since you don't need it at all to view the website.

Hi Doug, have you run a malware scan recently? This behavior can be indicative that malware may be running on your computer.

I recommend downloading malwarebytes free version and running a scan. Link: https://www.malwarebytes.com/

Are you using any content blocking extensions that previously may have blocked these ads?

I have Malwarebytes on my computer, so I ran the Scan at your suggestion.

It found 2 items to be quarantend, (spl.) which I did. The ads were gone - for a few minutes, then they were back.

I also updated Adblocker Ultimate. No use.

Question: Are you running any other third party extensions within Firefox? If so, it may be worth disabling/removing anything you don't need/trust. Also, it is possible to automatically provide us a list of all your extensions within your original post, if you wish, to provide us more insight into your environment.

Suggestion: remove Adblocker Ultimate. Try Adblock Plus instead.

Please define 'extension' for me as it relates to Firefox. I did replace Adblocker Plus with Adblocker Ultimate this am (Sat). The ads still appeared with either Adblocker. I also run Malwarebytes as my only spam finder.

Those ads are probably quite normal and I see them as well.

If your ad blocking extension(s) do not block them then its filters may need adjustment.

You can check whether Private Browsing mode is blocking the ads via Tracking Protection and possibly enable Tracking Protection in normal mode.

You can set this pref to true on the about:config page to enable Tracking Protection always.

  • privacy.trackingprotection.enabled = true

If you set this pref to true then you can also do this via "Options/Preferences > Privacy".

  • privacy.trackingprotection.ui.enabled = true

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
