How to create shortcut or macro?
How can I create shortcuts or macros? I am used to creating macros in Outlook and hope that end users can do something similar in Thunderbird.

Thank you.
However, how to install Keyconfig is not obvious. A file called keyconfig.xpi downloads but there is no information about what opens it and how to install it.
Help!
In order to install a downloaded extension, please do the following:
- Click the menu button and choose Add-ons.
- Drag your downloaded XPI file to the Add-ons Manager tab and drop it.
or
- Click the menu button and choose Add-ons.
- Click the gear icon at the top-right corner to the left of the search box and select Install Add-on From File…
- Locate the XPI file you downloaded and click Open.
You may need to restart Thunderbird when prompted. For more detailed instructions and information about installing add-ons, see Installing an Add-on in Thunderbird.

the info at this link: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keyconfig_extension talks about 'In Thunderbird, choose: Tools – Keyconfig.' The 'Tools' refered to is on the 'Menu Bar' toolbar. Some people have this enabled, others not, so i've included a second imgae showing where to enable it via the 'Menu icon' (which I moved to the left side as it seemed more logical to me).
Well, that was easy. Thank you. It is puzzling that such a simple procedure could not be explained on the download page.
Anyway, now there is another problem: I don't know how to use it. I can't find any instructions other than for people who already know the code.
But I don't even know what the code language is called. Surely there is a resource somewhere for people like me. Can you suggest something?
What I want to do as a start could hardly be simpler. I just want to create keyboard shortcuts for em dashes and en dashes. I know that the codes are Alt 0150 and Alt0151. But I don't know the syntax.
Thanks again.
