hijacked by bing every time i start and can nit change search engine or delete extension- help!
bing locks me out of changing my search engine to anything else-has blocked any other search engine from the drop down lists even after deleting any file that has bing or the flv - b2 add on - and i have tried all the stuff i have read here from other users - what can i do to delete bing entirely from my computer? is that possible? if i enter any actual wed address into the address bar it comes up as a bing search instead. I have run a search again and no files have come up- what can I do? all I want is google search and to lock it in- is that possible?
I still run xp and have not moved to chrome - i am older and afraid of problems like this as i do not know what to do and have no one to ask
Thank you!

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.
A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.
Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Firefox SafeMode
- You can open the Firefox 15.0+ SafeMode by holding the Shft key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- Or use the Help menu item, click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled... while Firefox is running.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Or it might be caused by Hardware Acceleration.
When you figure out what is causing that, please let us know. It might help other user's who have that problem.
enter about:config and look for strings referencing bing. Reset them. Also, scan with anti-malware programs
still same issue-with all extensions disabled it will not allow anything but bing still
next to try?
I notice that you still have the SearchReset 0.3 (Inactive) extension installed. Normally this extension only run once and then automatically uninstalls. When this hasn't happened then this indicates that something has gone wrong during the reset. you can remove this extension via the about:addons page (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).
Are there any prefs visible on the about:config page page that have a locked status?
Those should show at the top of the list if you click the Status column to sort by Status.
You can check for problems with preferences.
Rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default value.
