I have lost access to my email address. And there seems no way to change this...

Is there really nobody that can administrate the Sync database? I know it's kinda hard to check if that person really is the one that owns the account. On the other hand I belive that if someone provides a tool with registration they ought to provide the possibility to change every detail on that registration.

Because privacy goes the other way in my case... Now my ex employer can control my bookmarks. Great...

Please tell me that I'm wrong and that there is a way to change or at least delete a Sync account.

You can create a new sync account if you no longer want to use it because you have no access to the sync account.
If you can access the sync account then you can change the password or opt to generate a new sync (recovery) key.

If you've lost the password of the sync account and do not have access to that email address then you can't delete that account or generate a new password or sync key.

Do you have access to that sync account in any way (i.e. have the password and possibly the sync key)?

Thanks for replying so fast!

I have 3 Sync accounts by now ;)...

I found a laptop that was still synched. I reset and removed the account. Before I did that I created a backup of all my bookmarks.

Now I am trying to "transfer" those bookmarks to the new account. But I seem not to understand the concept of sync. When I click "setup sync" it brings me to a dialog about adding a device. And if I click "I don't have the device with me" I have to have a key. But since I am not logged in anywhere on the new sync account I am kinda running in circles...

Thanks again!

Edit: I have now been going through the recovery key cycle and setting up sync. There's something wrong. It creates a key but then does not accept it. Also the "Next" button only goes active after hitting the "Sync Options" button. This is after creating a new key by clicking "I lost my device" or something like that.

I am now going to play a few rounds of BF and then check back later if you masters have any input for me. I must be missing something here.

Appreciated!

You need a desktop computer that already has sync setup completely to be able to add another account and you need to have access to both devices at the same time.
Then you can generate a 12 character code on the other device that you can enter on the main computer.

What if I don't have any computer with access to the sync active? Can't I "re-join"? Do I have to setup a new account?

Thanks!

You can only access an existing account if you have the sync key of that sync account and either have the email and password that was used to setup the account or have access to that email account so you can have send a new password to it.

Otherwise you need to set up a new sync account with an email address that you can access.

Ok, I'll go through the process again. I understand that it should work as you describe. I must have done something wrong in the process.

Tomorrow is another day. Thanks a lot for your help!
