Firefox crashes, won't even open

I use a SONY laptop with Windows Vista. Firefox automatically updated to version 8 a day or 2 ago. After it updated, it instructed me that it was deleting certain affiliated programs. At first, it would open a window, but indicated that it was not responding. I then restored my computer to a point before the Firefox update. Firefox still didn't work. And I downloaded and reinstalled Firefox. Now it won't open at all. If I click on my Firefox shortcut, it immediately announces that it has crashed. I followed the instructions to open Firefox in safe mode, but got the same crash message.

Excellent. I uninstalled everything -- bookmarks included -- and reinstalled. Something must have gotten corrupted in the update. Now it works fine. Thanks.
One suggestion: I had no idea that the crash report noted that I was using FF7. Maybe if the crash reports were more easily accessible and readable, I would have seen this and gotten my solution more rapidly.
I like the suggestion about making crash reports more accessible and readable, so that users can solve their problem on their own instead of having to ask a question on the support forum. We are now working on a redesign of the support forum and our developers are interested in ideas about how to improve the forum. If you have an idea, please let us know.

Firefox 7.0.1 Crash Report [@ js::Bindings::getLocalNameArray(JSContext*, js::Vector<JSAtom*, int, js::TempAllocPolicy>*) ]
This crash is probably caused by or related to a "Frankenstein-build".

(I am posting this information so that other people can find your answer)
In about:crashes window if you click on crash id you can easily view your crashreport, and solution will depend how much you know about it.:)
The problem is that with the current crashes Firefox stops before people can get to the about:crashes page. They need a simple solution without having to use Firefox. And also, but this is pure speculation, I guess that most users have no idea how to read the crashreports. Maybe a simple list where they can look up their signature and then get an advice what to do?
Great ideas, all. But until Knorretje posted the link to my crash page, I had no idea where to find it. For instance, there was no link in my FF profile or dashboard or messages that would point me to the crash report. There wasn't even a link to my help query. Finding a way to provide a quick link from my FF homepage directly to my crash reports and my help requests would be a real improvement.
