You are using the first beta release of Firefox 4; it is not meant for general public use. Not all plugins may yet be updated. Only experienced testers should be using that new beta release. When using an early beta release of any application, you can expect problems. You can go to the Quicktime site and/or Quicktime forums to see if there is information there concerning the compatibility of your version of Quicktime with Firefox 4.

Try to disable OOPP (Out-Of-Process-Plugins)

You can set the prefs dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.* to false on the about:config page to disable the plugin-container process. dom.ipc.plugins.enabled (only one used in Firefox 4.0)

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

Is that a pre written script as the adobe plug in you suggested says its not compatible with FF 4.01b and wont install.

If it the beta wasn't intended for the general public then is shouldn't have been made freely available?

Have now updated to 7.6.6 Quicktime and still the same. Disabling Out-Of-Process-Plugins didnt work either.

Open source software pre-release versions are generally available to anyone who wants to download and try them out. The concept is to let their users participate in the development process and provide feedback while the development cycle moves forward.

You need to read the warnings and judge for yourself if you want to be a "tester". My personal opinion as a long term Firefox user and "tester", I think Mozilla is making a mistake by promoting 4.0 beta as they are now doing. IMO, more addons are going to need to be patched to work in Firefox 4.0, than with any previous major release version - 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, & 3.6 included.
