Each time I open a MS Word document directly from Thunderbird it only opens in "View Only" mode. Something has changed as this was never the case. I am running 102.2.2 (64-bit) version of Thunderbird. Any help would be very helpful. Thanks.

Anyone find a fix for this? I'm having the same problem. This issue has been happening for months now. If I download the file, then I can exit View Only and edit the doc, but not if I open it directly from the Inbox.

I'm currently on Thunderbird version 102.6.1 (32-bit). It happens with all doc files from all email addresses in multiple Inboxes on my PC. My PC Windows specs:

Edition Windows 10 Home Version 22H2 Installed on ‎6/‎10/‎2020 OS build 19045.2486 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0

I spoke with Microsoft Support today and they say it's a Thunderbird issue as we were able to open and edit docs through Outlook without the need to download them. Any update/help is appreciated.

Thanks

You might look at settings>privacy&security to verify what tool Thunderbird is using to open the files. That may provide some options.

Thanks for the reply. Are you referring to the 'files & attachments' setting in settings>general? All doc actions are set to open with Word(default).
