About a fortnight ago I got the error message 'failed to connect to imap.gmail.com' - I've had this before but it normally fixes itself within about 10 mins.

This time however it won't reconnect, and opens another window in Thunderbird saying 'secure connection failed' and that accounts.google.com uses an invalid security certificate.

There's a link at the bottom to add an exception but nothing happens when I click on it.

I've tried a few things that I've googled but nothing seems to work.

Would it be best to delete the whole account from Thunderbird and then re-add it?

I don't want to lose any of the emails I've got stored on there already.

Thanks Rich

Ah ha....just noticed that you located another question which discussed that Anti-Virus 'Bullguard' was causing this issue and that it resolved your issue :)

Here's the link for anyone else who reads this and needs a fix.

This sounds like your Anti-Virus.

What are you using? Bullguard by any chance?
