I use Firefox for Android for a long time. "Settings>Advanced>Show images" is set "Only over Wifi", to spare data when browsing on mobile data. Since I upgraded my phone (Bq E5s) from Lollipop to Marshmallow, images of websites are downloaded always. I cleared the cache, and cleared the data of Firefox app. Removed and reinstalled Firefox for Android. Did not help. Any suggestion to solve this problem?

(As a workaround, I installed uBlock addon, and set to "block media files larger then 12kB". I hope it prevents downloading of images, and not only hides them.)

Hello there, It works perfectly fine for me. I tried switching to mobile data while turning on "only on wifi" feature and it worked perfectly.

May i know the network you're on? I assume there's a problem with your network's access points. I suggest you to contact your service provider as there's no problem with Firefox.

hope my answer has helped you. If it did, please let me know! :)

Hi Pranav, You gave me an idea:

I use a dual SIM handset: 1st (telenor) SIM is for phone calls, the 2nd (t-mobile) SIM is my mobile data subscription. I turned off SIM 1, and firefox stopped downloading images on mobile data. On WiFi images are downloaded as expected.

After this test, I turned on SIM#1, and the error did not come up again. Now Firefox works as intended.

I will test if the error occurs again in the following days.

Your reply was helpful, but the error still exists after rebooting the phone.

To reproduce, You need two SIM cards installed, mobile data subscription on SIM#2. In Firefox for Android (49.0) "Settings>Advanced>Show images" is set "Only over Wifi".

0) clear Firefox cache 1) Turn off SIM#2. 2) Reboot the phone (only SIM#1 asks for PIN code) 3) Turn on SIM#2 (enter PIN code if asked), and enable data connection on it. 4) Start Firefox4Android, and start to browse the web.

Result: Images are downloaded. Expectation: Images are not downloaded. Workaround: Turning SIM#1 off and on seems to solve the problem until reboot.

Hello fekete, I apologize for the delay. Looking at your problem, I could make of a potential solution.

  1. When turning on mobile data in SIM2, there is a possibility that the browser knows that it is not the same network you have blocked downloading the images. So i request you to check the settings of the browser once again after turning mobile data on SIM2 ON
  2. If it is still set to "Only Over Wifi" then as i mentioned in my previous answer, your SIM2's access points maybe faulty too and i request you too check with you Network Provider because the feature works fine for me with two SIM cards too.

If this answer helped you solve your problem, please take a moment to flag it as CHOSEN SOLUTION Thank You
