Hello everyone,

when I watch a high quality stream (for example on twitch.tv), Firefox is really slowing. It can take 10 seconds just to open a new tab (or to switch to an already open one) and sometimes Firefox hangs for 30 secs.

I can watch the same stream on Chrome at the same time without any problem...

I allready reset all the settings of firefox to default (with about:support) , but it didn't change anything. My processor is not used that much, neither is my graphic card...

What can I do ?

I am using Firefox 33.1.1 with windows 7. Flash, Java and graphic driver are up to date.

Hello Albenejean, if you have already the latest graphic drivers then disable graphics hardware acceleration in firefox and see if that fix the issue.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps: Open Firefox Options window as follows:

  • click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options
  • In the Firefox Options window, click the Advanced tab, then select General.
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.

Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Thank you.

Hello and thanks for the answer.

Unfortunately, this didn't change anything. Any other idea?

Any luck if you toggle the webgl.disabled to true in about:config ? (double-click on it to toggle to true)

thank you

You can try to disable OMTC and leave hardware acceleration in Firefox enabled.

  • about:config page: layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
