when accessing my gmail account https://mail.google.com/mail/ I get a message saying "We've detected a problem with cookies . . ." and recommends 3 solutions; enable cookies, clean browser cache & cookies; or adjust privacy settings. I have done all 3 and cannot get gmail to load. I get, instead, the URL https://google.com/accounts/CookiesMismatched. I am using Firefox 5 as browser with Windows XP. Have heard from others that this combination creates this same problem for them.

Possibly the cookies.sqlite file in the profile is damaged. Did you try deleting that?

My lack of tech knowledge/skills leaves me fearful of deleting anything I don't fully understand. I've no idea of how to follow your suggestion.

You are really very kind and helpful. I did go to the site "kb.mozillazine etc." and found it to be pretty confusing. I will return to it at a later date and see if I can muddle through to a resolution, but I'm tentative about messing about with things I don't understand - don't want to create another bigger problem. \ Many thanks for your effort to help.
