I see that Thunderbird is not deleting the cache on exit/shutdown. I wanted to see if this is a bug, if I have misconfigured, or if it is not supported. I thought this was functioning properly in older versions but I can't cite specifics to backup that claim.

I have set privacy.clearOnShutdown.cache to true. When I shutdown, the files still remain in the cache2/entries subdirectory inside of the profile dir.

To confirm it wasn't a corrupt index file, I closed Thunderbird, deleted the entire cache2 subdir, and restarted Thunderbird. The cache2 directory architecture is rebuilt on startup but when I close Thunderbird again, the cache entries still remain.

Should this work (delete cache on exit)? Did I configure it correctly?

I am running Thunderbird v78.9.1 on Win10, both 64 bit.

I think I answered my own question. You have to set privacy.sanitize.sanitizeOnShutdown to true also in order for privacy.clearOnShutdown.cache to work. I am seeing the desired behavior when both are set to true.
