Thunderbird attachments
As a 'newby to Thunderbird' i want to send an attachment with an email. I have been onto the help screen, and like MS word it shows a box marked Attacments. The problem is that my Write window is not the same, and i am assuming that i have an earlier version than ver 78 shown in Help? If that is the case, can you tell me how to rectify? Regards and Thanks Tim

The box called 'Attachments' appears when you add the attachment. Do you see the 'Composition toolbar' ? It usually has 'Send', Spelling, Secuity, Save and 'Attach' . If no, then enable it: 'View' > 'Toolbars' > select 'Composition Toolbar'
Click on 'Attach' and select fromt he drop down eg: File Select the attachment and click on open.
It also works another way, if you use the word like 'attach' in the text then you would a bottom pop up that mentions 'Add Attachment'. See image below as guide.
Another method, left click and hold down on the file you want to attach and drag it over to the right side of the 'FRom, To' area and an 'attachments' box will appear, then release mouse to drop into the attachment box. see image below as guide.

Many thanks for your help. Problem is now solved.
Can i ask a follow up? Do you know if it is Thunderbird or my email client FASTHOSTS that is saying that i cannot send an advisory email to a list containing about 120 addresses?
The error message states that.....' unable to send email, too many recipients.'
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Thunderbird does not set limits, but servers do. There appears to be a limit of approximately 60 addresses when sending messages if you enter each address separately. However, if you use lists (mail distribution lists) for most of the addresses any limit is imposed by whatever SMTP server you use.
So were you entering the 'Mailing List' group name in a Bcc field or entering each name separately? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-create-and-use-mailing-lists-thunderbird#w_via-a-new-write-message
But note: one email sent to a 'Mailing List' group of 120 people, is 120 emails. If you have a limit on number you can send in any time period, you could exceeded the limit hence message from server too many recipients.
Located Fasthost info: Email sending limits Our mail platform is designed for business and personal use, not as a mass-mailing service. We limit the number of email's that can be sent from a mailbox within set time periods. The following limits are in place on all mailbox types.
- 50 mails in one instance
- 50 mails in a 10 minute period
- 1000 mails in a 24 hour period

Suggest: If you were trying to send an email and you had entered each name separately, then suggest you create and use Mailing List so entering as a group name instead. Ensure each Mailing list has a maximum of 50 contacts. Send each list with a good time between so you do not exceed the time frame limits.
