trying to recreate tabs from a linux ubuntu on this pc
this pc used to be a linux ubuntu one. was synced using firefox on the previous operating system. now I'm logged in using Mint. want to find out how I can get back all the windows with their tabs open on Mint?
I'm signed in and synced here so why am I constantly being asked to sign in again and again?
is there a way to chat/connect directly with Mozilla and/or Firefox support?

This is whats available for Firefox support from Mozilla. Especially on a holiday weekend, almost all of us providing support are other Firefox users who volunteer their time.
Any other devices that are connected to that Sync / Firefox Account?
Being signed in here (this support forum) is no indication that you are connected to Sync and the Sync server.
Synced tabs expire in a week, so if this is a setup from longer ago then you can't use Sync to get these tabs, but you would have to use the sessionstore.jsonlz4 file in the profile folder. - - - - You will normally find these files in the sessionstore-backups folder:
- previous.jsonlz4 (cleanBackup: copy of sessionstore.jsonlz4 from previous session that was loaded successfully)
- recovery.jsonlz4 (latest version of sessionstore.jsonlz4 written during runtime)
- recovery.baklz4 (previous version of sessionstore.jsonlz4 written during runtime)
- upgrade.jsonlz4-<build_id> (backup created during an upgrade of Firefox)
You can copy a file from the sessionstore-backups folder to the main profile and rename the file to sessionstore.jsonlz4 to replace the current file (make sure to backup the current sessionstore.jsonlz4).
okay, thought Mozilla had chat support like Google does even though it has become somewhat difficult to get help that way with them as well.
no just this one.
I signed in, hit the Sync button, and it swirled for a little bit. when I open a new tab, I get 'Top Sites' showing a number of sites I've open previously using Ubuntu. does that mean I'm logged in? if not, how do I connect to Sync and the Sync server?
a person helping me with Linux issues said I could just save the .mozilla from the Linux home directory on Ubuntu and copy it to same directory on Mint. is this true?
from this page:: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1288051?utm_campaign=questions-reply&utm_medium=email&utm_source=notification#answer-1315404
but I installed Mint on the same pc completely overwriting the Ubuntu stuff. will the process you provided above still work?
