ViewMarks not Generating Thumbnails
Hello Everyone,
I noticed over a month ago that the ViewMarks Add-on is not generating thumbnails for new bookmarks on my Windows 7 64-bit computers using Firefox 64-bit. The older bookmarks still have their thumbnails. Interestingly, thumbnails are generated in the history, but not under the Bookmarks Toolbar and other areas. Tried to see if a moving them to another location might work. I did various tests on to different computers and am getting the same results with a much smaller amount of bookmarks.
I tried contacted Michael Koch at CodePad, [email protected], but I never get a reply.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Thanks.

Sorry. No. Not even sure this will work for Firefox 57 Quantum release date Nov 14th https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/quantum/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be disabled and or removed.
We also do not do support for Extensions. It is the Developers issue to do so. There is a support page listed as well as a email address : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/viewmarks/
Mozilla approves Extensions and hosts them to help the Developer. Other that nothing to do with them.

Hello Pkshadow,
My post was mostly to find out if other people were experiencing the same thing.
If the Legacy Extensions is the reason why they are not completely working, then we will have to wait for CodePad to create a new extension for the following browser versions.
Also, I was hoping someone could comment on why I have not received a reply from Michael Koch of CodePad. I cannot determine whether or not he is receiving my messages.
The extension is working except for generating thumbnails for area of Bookmarks Toolbar and below. Any other location, the thumbnail is generated for the bookmark.
Well, if ViewMarks wasn't completely broken before, it is now with the upgrading to Firefox version 57.0. Obviously, all add-ons were removed.
Has anyone heard if Michael Koch at CodePad will be creating a ViewMarks for the Firefox Quantum.
Doing a quick visit to the website, it appears the ViewMarks has been removed along with his other items. Most of the pages are empty. Guess he closed up shop right at the time version 57.0 was released.
So, is there a substitute which can generate thumbnails of shortcut web pages?
Just speculation about why View Marks quit working with Firefox 56.
The manner with which Firefox saves Favicons and the storage system for Favicons was greatly changed for Firefox 56. No longer saved in the places.sqlite file as was done since Firefox 3.0, but rather saved to a separate favicons.sqlite file.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/viewmarks/versions/ Says compatible thru Firefox 56, but that may have been determined before knowledge of the changes made to Favicon storage was known.
Hello The-EdMeister,
Thanks for your input. I believe the location of the data used to generate the thumbnails changed causing the thumbnails not to generate in the Bookmarks Toolbar. However, thumbnails will still generate in the History location. I still have a Win 7 Pro laptop which is still on the 56.0 version. Thumbnails will not generate in the Bookmark Toolbar, but they still generated for web pages visited in the History location.
It appears there are a few things Michael Koch left up on his CodePad website. Doesn't look like he has quite on the ViewMarks yet. I sent him several emails asking how to donate to his product to help him keep it going. I consider ViewMarks the best out of all the solutions. It could use a few enhancements, but it basically got the job done.
I used the Thumbnails feature of Windows 2000 and XP to help quickly locate bookmarks. It was better than relying on the name of the Internet shortcut. As the old saying goes, "A Picture is worth a thousand words". That is what these products-addons-extensions do in essence.
Unfortunately, Bookmark Previews by John Marshall is not compatible with the Quantum version, too. Wonder if and when these guys will have a compatible version available again.
Thanks, ACZan
Sorry, meant to say, "Doesn't look like he has quit on the ViewMarks, yet."
