When I go to Photobucket my browser gets redirected to a scam. It redirects when viewing the tab and not viewing the tab. It happens without any mouse movement.

This only happens when I go to Photobucket. It does not matter what Photobucket page it is.

I have tried Malwarebytes, AdwCleaner, Hitman Pro and Zemana AntiMalware and it still is redirecting. Farbar Recovery Scan Tool shows the computer looks clean.

This does happen using Firefox and Google Chrome browsers. I have not tested to see if it happens using Internet Explorer browser.

Is this coming from the Photobucket website? Why is this just happening when I go to the Photobucket website only?

Any help appreciated,

Check what programs you have installed on your computer, via the Windows control panel. Perhaps one of them is causing the issue.

If you are still experiencing the issue, please try flushing your DNS. The Domain Name System is responsible for converting your URLs to the appropriate IP address. It's possible that the DNS has been modified or the IP address has changed. Flushing your DNS will wipe your saved IP addresses and force your system to lookup the IP address for Photobucket again.

Let us know if this fixes the issue.

An aside. I went to Photobucket and there is a full page overlay of ads. This appears to be done intentionally.

The code usues the traditional analysis progrograms/subroutines such as ajax.googleapis.com/ajax "subroutines" to determine who U R, where U R, and what ads to show. Such testing/tracking as resulted in ads for some people and different ones for others.

Targeted ads sometimes want to know what browser you are using too. Yet, overall, I agree with the DNS suggestion. Me, I like clearing browser "cache" now and then. On old machines, the lared'history' tended to slow me down but losing it hampers me for a bit.

As for the 'scam', that/those ads weren't specified , so take things one step at a time. Don't forget your cookies (while on the site) but the loss of all my cookies caused me to have to remember account names, etc. (That's why I keep a notebook.)

Wesley Branton,

It it appears that by flushing/clearing the DNS cache fixed this Photobucket redirect tech scam problem.

I have been viewing Photobucket pages after clearing the DNS cache for the last 4 days and I have not had my browsers redirect to a scam.

After trying just about everything you where the only one that said to try flushing/clearing the DNS cache.

I think Photobucket has way to many thing going on in their web pages. It seems lately it has been getting worse.

I really appreciate the help!

Thanks,
