Hi! My name is Artur and I'm providing a Firefox 3.6.3 solution on thin clients. This solution displays a webpage automatically. Some thing as a "attendance service manager". I'm running Firefox on a Debian Squeeze OS. Question: Concerning about "about:config" and "prefs.js" (last one, mainly) tweaks, I would like to know if there's a solution to allow opening a Firefox session on full screen and to disable about:sessionrestore window. Problem: Several equipments have opened several tabs before (re)initializing. By the way, any prefs.js tweaks will help a lot!

Sorry by my english skills. They're not so accurate.

Why are you deploying Firefox 3.6.3? Why not use something faster and secure, like at least Firefox ESR, or Firefox 13? 3.6.3 is ancient and horribly insecure.

I agree, Tylerdowner, but I have no authority about upgrading FF version on it. It's an iso that we burn and install it on thin clients. In other words, it's a ready-to-use solution. Unfortunately I need to use this version.

Firefox 4+ versions have the ability to open a Firefox session in full screen mode, the 3.6 and earlier versions didn't have that option.

You can use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify new (default) values.

Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.

pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift

See:

You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:

defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

arturvsantos, just so you know the last security update for Firefox 3.6 was 3.6.28 as 3.6.3 is rather behind there even.
