I don’t know if this is a political statement by some Firefox programmers, but it is getting to be pretty annoying. I don’t see what browser settings I need to change in order to get where I want to go. Various government sites get Firefox all hot and bothered about “invalid certificate” or some such nonsense, requiring several pages of me assuring it I really want to go there and it really, really should accept my override, but now it isn’t even offering any override for a site I visit frequently. It will not go there.

www.14jobs.cahwnet.gov uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate does not come from a trusted source. The certificate is only valid for www.caljobs.ca.gov The certificate will not be valid until 8/23/2010 5:00 PM. The current time is 9/18/2011 12:32 PM.

I can get to where I want by a different route, just not the bookmark that I used to use. Still, is there some reasonable justification for the fact that it is only for government sites, in my experience, that Firefox gets all hot and heavy about security certificates?

If that bookmark is no longer properly then you need to update that bookmark.
It is never a good idea to bookmarks specific links as a shortcut to pages and in cases like this it can be links that websites use to spread the server load that you shouldn't access directly.
Such links can stop working at any time.
It is always best to enter the site via the main home page of that site.

In my case, the problem was in saved old certificates Solution: Edit / Preferences / Advanced / Encryption / View Certificates / Servers Find and delete saved certificates for problem sites. And then restart firefox.
