I have an acer 8943g laptop I have been using firefox 3.6.15 with hide ip ng 1.6 with no trouble. I recently changed to firefox 4 and though hide ip ng shows in the firefox extensions it no longer works with firefox 4.I have set the advanced settings to work as automatic detect with a proxy but cannot get it to work. Hide ip ng 1.6 works fine with internet explorer 9.

Can you check the version you're running? It should be at least v1.34

Follow instructions here if the version is correct: Hide IP with Firefox You may have to uninstall it first, reboot and then reinstall it again.

I unloaded Firefox and Hide IP NG version 1.6 and rebooted. I then installed Firefox 4 followed by Hide IP NG 1.6 and Firefox does not recognize Hide IP NG version 1.6. yOUR reply was not helpful as it did not work. I am back to using Firefox 3.6.16 which works fine with Hide IP NG version 1.6.Something is wrong with either Firefox 4 or Hide ip ng 1.6.

A number of new security features have been added to v4.0 which may prevent that utility from functioning properly. See Firefox 4 Security

I think you'd have to contact the developer and ask them that question. Either that or switch to an add-on which works with Firefox 4. Try this one maybe: Stealthy
