Hey all,

So I have issue with youtube videos playback outside of youtube. When embedded on 3rd party site after pressing play buffer icon spins for a while then throws back message with error. While 'buffering' I am able to click youtube icon to go straight to youtube.com and watch video there without any issues at all.

In private mode - it works as intended (didn't try safe mode due to that). So I've cleared cache - an error happened. Then also cleared cookies (bit pissed off since I have to log in and set stuff back again on every site) - it helped and videos started to work again. But after not more like 2 or 3 times when it worked correctly it started to crash again. Other browsers seem to work just fine.

I've been also looking here for a resolution. Found few topics with same issue. Answers usually lead to two sites. One is reddit where main post was deleted and nothing interesting is given down bellow in the comments. Other site is a topic from 2014 saying to uninstall Flash Player. I don't have flash player since it is not supported anymore in 2021.

Any ideas?

Yup exactly that links - they doesn't help me at all. That's why I've created this thread.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

Note that not all extensions may have been enabled to run in PB mode.

Well yeah, as for hardware acceleration I had 'use recommended settings' ticked. Unticked that and left what was inside there (so hardware acceleration ticked and default 8 process). Nothing changed.

Also tried with addons - which I have only 2. uBlock and Facebook Container. Disabled them both + 2 plugins that were also 'always turn on' - switched them to 'never turn on'. It also didn't help. I believe this is something connected to cookies. Not sure which one (I've cleared all connected to youtube and it didn't resolve that issue). It works only when I delete them all but as mentioned earlier - it works only for like 10 minutes (probably until that one cookie is created).

To be honest it is every site that has embedded youtube video frame. That's why I wanted to clear youtube cookies (which didn't helped much).

I've added network debug page while trying to play a video. First one was with all extensions activated, second one with all turned off.

and third one is private window without extensions - fourth is also private window but with all extensions activated (ublock and facebook container) - playback in both cases started immediately after pressing play button. Maybe someone can find out something about this since all these stuff are just gibberish to me but I did noticed some differences between these (errors and so on).

One of your posts was unclear. Did you disable Hardware Acceleration?

Lol I've thought you wanted me to make sure it is turned on. Well turning it off doesn't change anything there.
