Trying to restore saved emails (PCV) from an old pc , that has died, to a new pc but don't have my profile.
Restore emails without a profile
Chosen solution
A pcv file is the backup format of MozBackup. If you change the pcv extension to zip, the profile folder in the archive can be extracted. Mail is stored in mbox files, which are files with no extension and named after the associated folder, e.g. Inbox, Archive, Sent etc. Look in the Mail/Local Folders subfolder for mbox files for local mail, Mail/<popaccountname> for POP mail, and ImapMail/<imapaccountname> for IMAP mail. Copy mbox files into the Mail/Local Folders location of the active profile, while TB is closed.
