I think i received an email last week with no subject, since then thunderbird freezes on start up. I have tried safe mode, removed global and removed all .msf's. My thunderbird runs mutliple acc's, pop and imap. Many thanks for any help. P.s. If I un-install thunderbird and then re-install will I loose all my accounts ?

What is your anti-virus software?

Thank you. It's Comodo 7.0.317799.4142 . Having said that, I think thunderbird is connecting ok, I can see it downloading messsage 4 of 5 (for example), but then it just locks.

Thanks again christ1, in both safe modes now and still no luck. Even had to use task manager to shut down t-bird. What are your thoughts on re-install, or would the problem still be in my profiles ?

What is the size of your profile? Are you accumulating messages in Inbox? When have you compacted folders the last time?

more options

My profile is 1.47gb, my inbox's could be over full, and I compacted just a few days before the problem started after I had deleted suite a few messages.

What's the size of your Inbox then?

The largest is about 500mb. I have installed postbox, which is stable, so will use that to clean up inbox's and other folders, then see if I can migrate back to thunderbird.
