Update failed
Currently I am using Firefox 11. When I click on Help, then About, the download of the update begins, but ends with "Update Failed". When I check Tools | Options | Update and look at the Update history it says the Integrity of the update could not be verified.
I know I could update manually but I support computers in a public library and it would be very time intensive to have to do this.

So this is happening on all your computers, or just one? if it is just one, updating manually is the best option. If you are having trouble with more than one PC, I'd try reading How to fix the Update Failed error message when updating Firefox.
We usually advice to download and install the full Firefox version of the current 14.0.1 release.
Another possibility is to remove the currently downloaded update and try again to update.
If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.

It is happening on all computers that are the same model of computer (HP 5700). It works fine on the HP 5800 and HP 7900. All the computers are as close to the same as possible.
I have read that article but nothing really applies.
Thanks.

When I click on Help, About, the download says it is beginning but 0 MBs are downloaded.
The local settings | application data.... did have an update folder with 0 MBs.
I am attaching a graphic with the contents of the .xml files.
Thanks.
I made sure that the folder with the 2 .xml files and the update (0) were deleted. I tried it again with the same result
One thing that is different between the 2 models of computers is that one is updating from version 12 to 14.01 and the other one is now version 11. The one that is failing is the one that is version 11 now.
Are version 11 and 14 too far apart to use the autoupdate?
Thanks.
Jane
Any update that skips version is a full update, so it doesn't make much difference if you uninstall the current version and install the full Firefox 14.0.1 version.
I'm not sure if you can update from 11 to 14 in one step or that you can only update to Firefox 12 and then to 14.
Was there a version 13? I can go to 14 from 12 in one step.
I have about 100 computers that are on version 11 and was hoping to not have to do it manually.
Yes, there was a version 13, however, it, (like all versions below 14.0.1) is insecure.
I suggest your best bet is to wait until Firefox 15 comes out on Tuesday (the plan as of right now) next week, then update all your machines to that (easiest is probably put the installer on a thumb drive and go pc to pc). Then after that, make sure you have them set to auto-update every-time a new release comes out so you avoid this in the future.
The computers that are now version 14.0.1 and are set to autoupdate should autoupdate to 15, right?
That is correct.
