Why is the Location Bar Demoting my Popular Web Sites?
I have been noticing lately that I have certain websites that I visit on a regular basis, some more often than others. Lately (over the past few releases) I have been noticing that these websites are getting moved to the way down the list of shown results. I have a website that I visit multiple times a day get pushed below the level of websites that I visit perhaps once a week. It used to be that if I went to that website multiple times (about 3-5 times) I could push it back up in the rankings. I tried to do this by going to that site over 40 times (alternating between it ans some other random page) and it does not move up the rankings. It is not a big problem, but surely annoying when I have to go hunting for the sites that I regularly visit.

If you are using the smart bookmarks, there should be a folder in the bookmarks called something like "Most frequently used". Why not use that?
I do appreciate a workaround, though, I think that somehow this is a bug that has been introduced in the last 2 or 3 versions. If this is now considered standard behavior, then I may have to revert to your workaround.
the so called "frecency" algorithm that populates the location bar results is based on a few factors - it doesn't only look at how often you've visited a site, but also how you did get there. for reference, see https://developer.mozilla.org/en/The_Places_frecency_algorithm (note that typedVisitBonus is 2000 & not 200 as it is stated in the link, so it outweighs all the other factors).
so you might want to try entering the address of the site that you want to move up in the results manually into the location bar for a few times to see the effect quicker...
Perhaps I need to add some clarity to this. The websites that I am visiting are based on a set that I frequent. This order was stable for at least 6-8 months, but in the last two months it has started to move the sited that I visit the bottom of the list. In other words, the behavior has changed, but the reason is not known. No different addons have been installed. I have noticed this behavior not only on one computer, but multiple computers. Some of these are synched and others not, though as I understand it, the synch feature should not change the results of this.
