Currently, with Firefox 8.0.1, closing a tab that is not at the very right will cause that tab to close and all other tabs to remain stationary, as long as my mouse pointer is over another tab. The tabs will remain the same size and not expand to fill the tab bar as long as my mouse is there. When I take the pointer away, they expand to fill the space.

How do I get my tabs to ignore my mouse so that they always expand to fill the space whenever I close a tab?

Visual aids attached. First image is a set of tabs with my mouse over the "about:config" tab. Second image is the same set of tabs after closing that tab. Notice how my mouse is over another tab, and there is space in the tab bar. Third image is after I move my mouse away, and the tabs expand the space. I want to go from the first image to the third image, with no in-between where the tabs do not expand.
