I've been using the noscript add-on, and every so often it just disappears. It's not active, and it doesn't show up in FF add-ons/extensions and I have to reinstall. My old whitelist is still intact. Why is it happening? is a rogue script uninstalling it?

This happened

Not sure how often

== ongoing.. it just happened again today.

It is possible that there is either a rogue add-on hiding in your Firefox install or a rogue "cleanup" script deleting NoScript. First, try following the steps at Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

I will check the link you posted. Does FF have a facility to log activity such as this? If there was a log, I could review it and see what was happening.

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry. See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions

If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.
