fault downloading .apk

more options

When I try downloading a .apk file from various sites it doesn't download the entire file. Instead it finishes download and states the message "this file is not commonly downloaded". I downloaded the file from "https://apkpure.com/kingroot/com.kingroot.kinguser/download?from=details" I also tried other sites with the same message.

What is strange is the file is not completed. I get filename1.apk and filename1.part and .part means the file has not completed downloading. I tried it on a TOR browser and it downloads without the message. Why is this message occurring and why does the file not complete. No one needs to see a message stating what is commonly loaded?

This is a google safebrowsing feature. After clicking "Open", the file will complete and the .part files will be deleted (despite you can't really open the file on desktop).

To turn the feature off, go to about:config and set browser.safebrowsing.downloads.remote.block_uncommon = false.

I am not sure I understand. Are you saying I click to open the name of the file which has not completed downloading?

If this is so what is the purpose of not allowing the download to complete as other browsers I have tested one of which is Tor which uses an older version of Firefox completes the download?

No, I'm saying you've to click the Open button, which is on your screenshot.

Google says that the file is somehow suspicious, so you have a choice to Open the file or to Remove it. This is on your screenshot. Clicking "Open" actually means that you accept that this file can be saved on your disk.

Tor browser doesn't use Google Safebrowsing to check downloaded files.

The file I enclosed is what was displayed by Firefox and has nothing to do with google.

That enclosure was shown where the download icon is located and when I looked at the completed download it showed the orignal file name as 0 file size. why?

Ok clicking on the link just gives me a garbage name for the file. That to me would indicate something is amiss on the site if it's doing that.

I believe westend is correct. the web site is not likely on the up & up. I tried a few more sites and the download of the .apk file downloaded without any incident.

It is interesting to not that the download completes and leaves 2 files one file size zero and the other .part full size.
