uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gigs) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

To bad.

Note : Please check Device Manager and check if the mouse drivers are made by who you think they should be. If mouse is Microsoft not to bother. If mouse came with drivers or a link to download then do check. Microsoft Win 10 can and will change your hardware drivers to Microsoft's. https://www.howtogeek.com/302595/how-to-stop-windows-10-from-automatically-updating-hardware-drivers/

If found in above a solution, great. If not : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode TEST, TEST It. Issue is in your Profile which includes Extensions. If no lag then do below and test.

Disable all extensions and TEST. Enable 1 at a time till find issue.

The first time I opened Firefox after restarting my PC it worked like a charm. Later when I opened it again it was right back like it was.

So was this before or after enabling extensions ? Did you follow the previous post instructions. If so when did this reoccur ? it what part of the above steps ? If was after testing then it is a Extension and is up to you to find out which it is.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I disabled all the extensions and Firefox still has a 3 second delay even on the settings page. It does it in the safe mode as well.

What security software do you have?

Make sure that your security software is blocking access to files in the profile folder.

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

I created a new profile and opened Firefox and it does the same thing.

What did you do re: cor-el and security software as there is some issues with 4 diff.

Who made the mouse ? Have you looked for new Drivers ? If is not MS have you gone to their forum to see if there are issues ?

The mouse is made by Dell. My Firefox worked fine until the last update that boasted of lightning speed. It's very frustrating to even try to use, now. The troubleshooting is getting out of my league, now. I reckon I'm stuck. Thanks for all the help.

Have you tried for a Dell Update then or contacted Dell or looked in their Forum for a answer for your mouse. Uninstall if not already done so all the BS they pre-load that is not needed and turn off from starting at Boot.

You can go to Device Manager (yes is there) and go to Mouse right click and uninstall it. Reboot and will put the drivers back in again from the Driver Repository.

Repair System Registry and Files To run the DISM command use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu, then select Command Prompt (Admin). Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" (without quotes or copy/paste) and press Enter. Reboot After.

Note : DISM goes up to Microsoft for new ones.

Go through Windows 10 Settings and turned off everything not using and or right clicked and tried to uninstall it.

Each Extension uses give or take 20megs of ram each.

Well as mentioned there is issues with security software, Issues with a Win Update for 7 and for some 10

You did not mention this before. Issues that have been Fixed in Firefox 57.0.2 if still have issues with Firefox Ram/slowness try lowering the amount of Processors : You could try this please : Go the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 0 = No Multi-processor = slow again. TRY 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

If my mouse was having issues it wouldn't be with just Firefox. My mouse is working just fine. I tried unticking as you said, but nothing helps. Firefox won't even close when I click X. It waits about 3 seconds before it closes. Anything that I type in the search field shows up about 3 seconds after I type it. When I remove the checks from their boxes in my settings I have to wait for the check to disappear. Nothing works right. It worked fine until the automatic update.
