Not sure why that's happening. I just attempted to duplicate the problem but when I click on the back arrow, the page is in the same spot I left it at.

Instead of superimposing windows on top of each other, always open a new tab for each web page you visit. If you find the tabs take up a lot of room along the top of the screen, you can pin them. Right-click on the tab and select, Pin Tab.

Firefox usually returns to the previous spot when you go back -- if the page is cached. Some sites instruct Firefox not to cache the page, so Firefox does a full reload and puts you back at the top. For example, Reddit users have complained about this (see: Going back to the previous page refreshes the whole page).

As suggested by heather53, you could try to develop the habit of opening links in a new tab using either Ctrl+click, or middle-clicking using the mouse scroll wheel, or right-click > Open Link in New Tab. Then you never leave your home page in the original tab.

Alternately, there might be an add-on or "hack" for the site giving you trouble. Do you want to mention what page it is?

I tried all the things suggested and still does it. Also it only seems to do this below the people and places section.

I went to the home page and scrolled down to the Food articles. McBreakfast anyone? When I go back, the page initially is in that same spot, but at some point flips to the top as though it was scripted to do that. I don't think this is the usual issue with no caching allowed, I think it's how the page is designed to work. Does it behave differently in other browsers?

Try complaining to Fox News. Maybe they can turn that off.
