Cannot open tabs with keyboard command or cicking on the + tab
Using Cmd+T of clicking on the + tab in tabs doesn't open a tab. I can open a tab by Cmd+clicking on a link on a webpage but not independently.

Hi jscher2000,
It's funny - I did find the 'fix,' which worked for reasons I do not quite grasp (not that it matters - I can use tabs again).
I simply downloaded the very most recent/beta version of Firefox (31.0b2), installed it, and restarted the application. Now everything works like a charm.
Thanks so much for reaching out to me and offering such great advice. I really appreciate it.

Do any of your extensions have "community toolbar" in the name? Those seems to be associated with this problem.
You can review and disable extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Command+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then see whether you can find one of those and disable it.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any improvement?
Update your Shockwave Flash.http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;
Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences
Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart
Disabling the community tool bar extension. That did it. Much obliged.

I did so. It made no difference.
My computer is a Mac Powerbook, late 2013, 13 inch. I am running the latest version of Mac OS X Mavericks.
I had no problems at all until I 'upgraded' to Firefox 30. However, I am now having the same problem with Firefox 29, which I run on another computer.
I've updated and/or corrected all of my plug-ins; deleting any that could cause a problem. I also disabled/removed any extension where there was information on this forum suggesting there might be an issue.
Basically, firefox's (behavioral) response is: "No dice." I have no theory of the case. Is it a bug? Is it something else? I haven updated any other software (except for, of course shockwave flash).
Just call me stymied. And frustrated.
Don't have or use the community toolbar, but still have the problem. I am grateful to you for trying to help, though.
Hi saraw1, let's try to rule out all extensions by testing in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).
Any difference?
