Hi All,

Just reporting in. Win7 OS.

Still getting roughly 1 Thunderbird crash per day ( 115.4.3 ).

It always seems to be when TB has been out of focus and I call it into focus. The entire GUI dialog box is white.

Thank you.

I think you mean it hangs?

Does problem go away?

Hi Wayne,

Thanks again for responding.

TroubleShoot modes don't help. TB still crashes (hangs).

When I read thru the TB Help webpage on Troubleshoot mode, I must say I scratched my head quite a bit. The page says that if these troubleshoot modes don't help then problem could be:

1. Something wrong with your Thunderbird installation: Reinstall Thunderbird from https://www.thunderbird.net/. 2. Something wrong with your operating system: Start Windows in safe mode. 3. Changes made to Thunderbird preference settings not disabled in Troubleshoot Mode

After 50+ years of developing code, I ask how could the possibility of "malfunctioning app executable" be left out of the above list, of the possible culprits, rather than blaming it on the User???

Any new releases planned that you know of?

Thanks again !!

Please re-read the title of that KB article. It is not intended to describe a full troubleshoot process. And I don't think it hints that it does?

A process might be...

Start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Does problem go away?

- If no, then cause is either: bug in Thunderbird, something in your Thunderbird profile (eg a setting, file or folder), or your mail provider.

- If yes, the problem is gone, then (still in Windows safe mode) ... start Thunderbird normally -- If problem is still gone, then cause is likely a program loaded during windows startup. Possibilities include: antivirus software (AV), virus/malware, background downloads such as Windows or other program updates, to name a few. For AV information see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues -- If problem came back, then cause is likely a Thunderbird add-on - eliminate them by disabling add-ons one at a time in Tools | add-ons | extensions and restart Thunderbird after disabling (if you have many add-ons, try disabling half of them at a time)

- If results are unclear ... possibilities include temporary conditions such as contention from other running programs, downloads related to windows update, ...

I was wrong about the article. And it does look like there is a formatting problem in that article that is hiding some bullet points. Thanks for raising the issue.

Hello Wayne Mery,

I note well that you locked me out of my own post.

You complained that I was re-posting. I was not. It is not the same topic. This topic, that you are forcing me to post on, is about 15.4.3 It is an old topic. Most likely everyone is using the latest release.

I was attempting to alert the community and developers that 115.5.0 is crashing.

It is not the same topic. 115.5.0 is a new revision.

If someone, say a developer, wants to see if there are any problems with 115.5.0, do you suppose that he/she will read a post on 15.4.3?

Probably not.

Forcing me to post a problem with Ver. 115.5.0 on an old post for essentially a different topic does not serve the community nor the developers.

As a member of the TB community, I am innocently reporting a problem on the software that represents the latest fixes.

> It is not the same topic. 115.5.0 is a new revision.

But https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1432105 is the same - even the title was the same. It does not matter that you updated - it is essentially the same code.

Trust that I have enough experience to guide you to get the best result for your issue. Let's focus on the issue please.
