Hi, in case I wish to try NoSquint Plus:

(1) Is it easily removable in case of problems, without having to figure out (for example) where on earth the Firefox Profile directory is located?

(2) Does NoSquint Plus interfere with non-javascript-email settings?

The reason I ask, is because in the past, when I tried "NoSquint" (not the plus-version)...it interfered with my YahooMail settings. (I use the Old Classic Non-Javascript version.

For example, the DELETE-MAIL button wasn't displaying.. But once I Removed nosquint, YahooMail became normalized again.

EMPHASIS: I only disable JavaScript for YahooMail, because the New YahooMail sucks. For most other sites javascript is enabled.

Thanks.

Hi

The best way for you to find out how an add-on is going to react is to give it a try.

If you are not keen on the results, this article will walk you through how to remove the add-on.

Why do you need NoSquint Plus? Is it because you find yourself having to increase the zoom level on every site? There are some alternatives if that one creates problems, for example:

  • Zoom Page (includes "fit to window" feature)
  • Zoom Page WE (I don't recommend this one if you are editing web pages in the browser because it injects a bunch of size information into the HTML tags)

jscher, you may not be accustomed to my type of answer, but the thing is, I'm somewhat electrosensitive. So I sit further away from my laptop, and key on an external keyboard & external corded-mouse. I also wear glasses, for farsightedness, which somehow helps. (Don't ask me why, I don't know).

I'm seeking some sorta magic program which can magnify text, but yet somehow still wrap around accompanying pics. normally. The truth is, if they'd only have continued to work on PixelQi type of technology, alot of grief could be avoided for many people.

P.S. I'm actually farsighted - and by now I require probably 2.25 to 2.5 glasses.

P.P.S. I just removed NoSquint Plus, because I found I needed to use the right scroll-arrow to view the far right of screen. I hope to try Zoom Page next.

P.P.P.S. jscher, I just installed Zoom Page, and don't quite grasp it. I couldn't find a tutorial on youtube. Do you have any suggestions as to what keystrokes I might try?

I don't know about keyboard shortcuts. Can you find the zoom drop-down pictured here: https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user-media/previews/full/180/180040.png?modified=1478422417

jscher, so sorry for the prolonged delay (this often happens lately because when I get bad headaches I need to take long breaks, sometimes more than a week.) Could be that I have Irlen Syndrome, and in fact, when I took the Irlen Test, it would seem i do have Irlen. see: http://irlen.com/headaches-and-migraine-research/# Or it may be "snow blindness" because sometimes after prolonged computer use, I sorta go blind (I need to rub my eyes, otherwise all I see is White).

To answer your question, yes indeed, of course I saw the zoom drop down, but what i've been trying to figure out, is how to do this:

Make every site Fit-To-Page (I.E. no need to scroll horizontally) And text should default to at least 170% while still remaining on page (wrapped around images). And background should be light-grey with bold black text as default for every page.

I guess that's a tall order? ;) If so, maybe I should remove this add-on as well, and just continue using firefox's control-plus? BTW, you've no idea how many people scoff at the idea of people being sensitive to various aspects of computers. The ridicule itself is a killer...as if health issues isn't enough of a burden to deal with!

If you click the gear icon at the bottom of that menu, then look at the Zoom Levels tab, does the "Default Zoom Level (%)" let you choose fit to width?

more options

Yes, well I'm seeing the same thing you're seeing, except that I'm not experiencing any AHA! moments here. Some people seem to by osmosis, but not me! I haven't the faintest idea what numbers to set within all those dropdowns.

On the third row, where it says Default Zoom Level (%), does it give you the option to Fit to Width there?

There's a drop down with graduating numbers until 300.

I guess I was on the wrong tab. Could you try changing the Zoom Mode setting on the first row to fit-to-window?

If you mean "Image Zoom Mode" it's already defaulted to Fit The Window.

I don't really understand this program, so it's been a sitting duck these past days (or shall I say stagnant duck...

No, above that, Zoom Mode, on the first row. (Image Zoom Mode is only for images.)

Hi, again, jscher, [sorry if this is somewhat a tangential rambling, but] while I appreciate your feedbacks, I think I need to pass for now because since Firefox won't be supporting updates for Win-XP as of September, I'm currently in a panic trying to figure out which used Win7 laptop to buy which EMFs wouldn't kill me. I'm considering a lower-ghz toughbook, hoping that's shielded enough? Do dual-cores penetrate thru shielding?

To add insult to injury, the HP site doesn't offer downloads for the laserjet 1010 series for Win-XP anymore. There are some WikiHow instructions, which i hope to figure out. I'm in real trouble because I'm getting too worn out and sick to be able to handle the high speed at which tech honcho's keep shoving changes down my throat.

Hi Minni, September was suggested as a planning date. You have time -- Firefox 52 ESR is scheduled to get security updates for several more months (through April 2018, I think).

Regarding the technical issue, I don't know, you might want to ask on a more hardware-oriented forum.

Thank you so much! Meantime I've removed zoompage (at least for now) as I can always add it again. I really couldn't make out either of the programs. I may have a type of Irlen Syndrome related to snow-blindness, because bright screens cause me to see only White when viewing prolongedly - versus text-and-images-On-background. I need to press warm-palms on my eyes and also squint, to see again. Cool cloths & water drops help, The hotshot ophtho's are clueless. They even push drops containing dangerous benzalkonium-chloride & so forth.
