Firefox is preventing me from downloading the endnoteweb firefox extension despite me having changed xpinstall.signatures.required to 'false' in config
So I gather that this was a tempory workaround for developers not signing their add-ons with mozilla? Well, seems thompson reuters never got the memo that this no longer works with current firefox builds, since their 'firefox extension' add-on for endnote web isn't signed for firefox... Is there really no way to fix this as a user? Is the only solution now to wait for them to fix their months-long blunder that makes a tool specifically for firefox completely unusable with firefox?!

xpinstall.signatures.required is deprecated - not applicable in Firefox 48 and later versions.
Where are downloading from? Could you post a link to the install page?
According to one page, Endnote has a "bookmarklet" you can use for capturing. A bookmarklet is a script that you install to your Bookmarks Toolbar or Bookmarks menu in some convenient place, and then use that as your capture button. See:
Web Capture http://www.myendnoteweb.com/help/en_us/ENW/hs_webcapture.htm
If you test that out, please report back on whether it still works since others are also likely to have this question. Thanks.
If the bookmarklet isn't enough, please see the section of the following support articles for advanced users, toward the end: Add-on signing in Firefox. In short, there are four other variants of Firefox in which you can use unsigned extensions. The most stable is the Extended Support Release of Firefox 45.
