Could you check whether you have any Spigot extensions, such as "Searchme"? Those may be overriding Firefox's normal behavior. You can do that on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Command+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Everything here is optional; none are included with Firefox. If you find Searchme or anything else you do not recognize or need, try removing or disabling it.

Often a link will appear above at least one removed/disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
