I have Thunderbird and Firefox running, but after a Windows 10 system restore, Thunderbird failed to start. I get an error message: Couldn't load XPCOM. The address book won't open either. Firefox is unaffected and runs fine. Following the advice found from an Internet search, I updated Firefox to the latest version, but that didn't fix Thunderbird. I don't know what version of Thunderbird I am running, but I upgraded two days ago (before the system restore), so I should have the latest version of Thunderbird installed.

Reinstalling deleted two of my six email accounts, but fixed the problem. Does anybody have a better solution that doesn't delete mail accounts in the process?

Reinstalling deleted two of my six email accounts,

Since you provided no further details I'm not going to speculate what may have happened. In any case, re-installing did not delete your accounts.

After reinstallation of Thunderbird, two of my email accounts were no longer present. I don't care if you f*ing call that deleted or not, THEY'RE NOT THERE.

Don't use windows system restore. It does more damage than it fixes. Get a real backup solution if your prone to getting viruses, or defective Windows updates.

Consider this also a warning. You abuse if a volunteer and your uncalled for religious assumptions are neither welcome, not will they be tolerated. SO to illustrate that I have edited you post to remove the totally inappropriate comments. Repeat such things and I will ban you permanently.

Interesting, but like Chist1, I am doubtful that a reinstall had anything at all to do with the issue. Defective Windows updates, anti virus programs, or a bad hard disk are all far more likely. If ALL you account were missing perhaps, but for a small but specific section of a text file to be excised is simply almost unbelievable. Regardless of what your eyes are telling you.
